TrainingTips.com:  What are some of the most common mistakes you see people make when it comes to working out and how can they be avoided?

Herve:  Some of the most common mistakes I see people make when it comes to working out are over training and their forms. These can be avoided by hiring a personal trainer to teach proper form and guide you through your workouts and also educating yourself on working out to avoid over training.

TrainingTips.com:  How has working out with a personal trainer of your own helped influence your approach to personal training and fitness in general?

Herve: Working out with a personal trainer of my own helped influence my approach to personal training and fitness because it allowed me to understand what my clients go through and feel like. For instance, training when they really don’t feel like it, not seeing the results as quickly as they’d like to, and the hard work it takes in order to see changes/results.

TrainingTips.com:  How important is variety to a workout routine?  What would you say to someone who feels that they don’t have the time or energy to switch up their routine?

Herve: Variety is very important to a workout routine. The workouts need to be changed in order for your body to change. Once your body gets used to the same workout routine it becomes more difficult to see optimal results in a shorter amount of time. For those who feel that they do not have the time or energy to switch up their routine must make time rather than trying to find time. Not having time is just another excuse used by many who aren’t dedicated enough to put in the work. There are 24 hours in a day. That is plenty of time. It’s as easy as changing the reps, weights, intensity, duration, and simply trying something new.

TrainingTips.com: What advice would you give to someone who is keen to increase their levels of physical fitness but isn’t clear on how to set attainable and measurable goals?

Herve:  My advice for someone who is keen to increase their levels of physical fitness but isn’t clear on how to set attainable and measurable goals should hire a personal trainer with experience. If they aren’t able to afford a personal trainer my advice for them would be to set S.M.A.R.T. realistic short term and long term goals understanding it must be specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and timely.

TrainingTips.com:  What’s your fitness philosophy?

Herve:  I believe fitness should be fun and enjoyable. It should be something you look forward to that leaves you feeling satisfied. Exercise is only as good as it is performed. It’s not what you do, it’s how you do it. Find a way to make it fun whether its through music, certain setting, or specific exercises.
